Winter of Projects 2009
Sunday, 19 July 2009 18:51

The first Winter of Projects (WoP) was held in Hong Kong, from February 12th to 24th, 2009.

The 2009 WoP edition was hosted and co-sponsored by Andre Martin.

Following the overwhelming success of Summer of Projects (SoP) 2008, Andre concluded it would be way too long to wait for the next SoP edition and thus invited to the first WoP.

Topics included:

  • Group vs. Team" online study (new)
  • Network peer behavior and fostering (new)
  • Social Media: Analysis, Usage and Integration (new)
  • Environment adaptive network-based solutions (new)
  • Network-based & -assisted education & training (new)
  • Discussion rounds featuring modernized and streamlined business practices
  • Creating dynamic business environments
  • The meaning of Web 2.0 and it's application to existing businesses
  • Analysis of web site requirements and setup for automated business operation
  • Centralized management of a web site network

Picking up the open attitude of SoP which was all about the "true spirit of coming together and get things done in a dynamic environment with limited resources and enthusiastic participants", WoP went beyond the usual office sessions.

Taking advantage of Hong Kong's dense but multi-faced environment, working sessions had 3 fixed locations at their disposal with all the techicial gear one might need, coffee shops at every corner, 24/7 stores, high-speed Internet access at every step, free recreational facilities, and a lot more.

A number of working sessions were hold at outdoor locations to get participants to think "outside the box"; with WiFi access "to do that quick check if someone already came up with the same idea".
